He is the current medical director of Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology. He is a vitreoretinal surgeon with keen interest in developing innovative models for diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases like Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinopathy of prematurity. He is actively involved in research including infectious & genetic diseases in the eye. He is currently pursuing his research in proteomics in diabetic retinopathy.
He is the managing director of Jai shivashakti health and educational foundation.
He is one of the founders of Centre for budget and policy studies and served as a director for 12 years since its establishment. Prior to this, he was a professor at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, Served as the director of the Institute of Public Enterprises in Hyderabad, Economic advisor to the National Small Industries Corporation and held the RBI Chair in the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore.
He is the current medical director of Prabha Eye Clinic & Research Centre. He is a cornea and refractive surgeon and heads the department of Eye banking in the Institute.
