VIIO conducted a Diabetic Retinopathy workshop on January 22, 2017 to provide a forum for discussing screening aspects, diagnosis and management of different scenarios in diabetic retinopathy with hands on training in performing diagnostic procedures like slitlamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography and therapeutic procedures like slitlamp delivery of laser techniques. The target audience were the postgraduates, fellows, General ophthalmologists from Bangalore and Tumkur Districts (5 Taluks - Tumkur, Madhugiri,Pavagada, Gubbi, Koratagere). Dr Vineeth Kumar, consultant ophthalmologist and clinical lead for Diabetic Screening Service, Wirral University, UK (Northwest) was the Invited Speaker.
VIIO conducted a one day CME programme in Tumkur district in month of July 2017, for discussing the basics of slit lamp bio microscopy with 78D and 90 D lens and basic interpretation of OCT for the general ophthalmologists of the 5 districts of Tumkur which were a part of our ongoing Diabetic Retinopathy Teleretina Project. Dr Vineeth Kumar from Wirral University, UK was our invited speaker.
A workshop was organized by and at VIIO On 18th August 2017 sponsored by Operation Eye sight Universal (OEU) for ASHA`s on Eye care. ASHA workers from Jigani, Saraswathi Puram, Nandini Layout and Padarayanapura PHC's participated in the workshop. The objective was to create awareness in the community in our project areas on common eye diseases, identification, and prevention and also for patients to avail services of VIIO. Our Doctors, Rehab Consultant & staff took active part in the program. ASHA workers were requested to join hands in our programmes to make a blindness free area.
The work shop was organized by Operation Eyesight Universal (OEU India) at Hyderabad from 8th to 10th April, 2017. All hospitals implementing this project participated. A Training programme for the district ophthalmologists from all over Karnataka was conducted in October & November 2017. The training was conducted as per NPCB guidelines and under the guidance of Dr Gowri J Murthy (HOD – Glaucoma Dept, VIIO). It consisted of didactic lectures covering history taking, optic disc evaluation, gonioscopy, tonometry, and common glaucomas in India, Permetry, medical & surgical management. Also, it it included live surgery demonstration followed by hands on training in wet lab on goat's eye. The trainees were also made to perform gonioscopy, tonometry and fundus examination with 78D lens on patients in the outpatient clinic. A short test was conducted at the end on disc evaluation, visual field assessment and gonioscopy evaluation. A total of 20 trainees attended the training program. At the end of the training most of the trainees were confident in the clinical skills of disc evaluation and diagnosis of glaucoma.

Vittala International Institute Of Ophthalmology in association with Prabha Eye Clinic and Kumar Nethralaya conducted an one day CME programme 'ABHIVANDANA 18' on the 15 th April 2018 at Vivanta by Taj.
A symposium of interesting cases and videos from various subspecialties in Ophthalmology was presented by various esteemed faculty from various specialities. Delegates from all over Karnataka were a part of this event.
Highlight of the event was the felicitation of Dr T K Ramesh, a great teacher, retired director of Minto Ophthalmic Hospital for his commendable service in the field of Ophthalmology.

This workshop was held at Tumkur in the auditorium of Govt General Hospital on 8th June,2017. Dr Vineet Kumar, Ophthalmologist from U.K. was the chief Speaker. The programme was attended by Ophthalmo,ogists from Govt & private hospitals of the district apart from DNB students.

We had 32 participants with a very good feedback.
